If our income has dropped below £25,000 from September 2014, will we be assessed from the current tax year 2015-2016? We wonder if our daughter who starts University in September will receive a grant or if we will still have to support her as she will struggle to pay her rent and her living expenses on the maintenance loan.

What was your income for the tax year you were asked details for?

It was over £40,000 up to August 2014.

    Hi
I understand what your dealing with when a pay is cut, I went through similar a couple of years ago but my chat is about your daughters uni living.

I don't understand why parents are expected to support / pay there kids/adults through uni & some get full everything offered just because there parents are on low income?

For our area my parents would have made a good wage but in no way would I expect them to fund me at college/ uni that's prob why I left school at 15 to get a job.

Why should well off parents be forced to pay & poor parents get all the benefits going .. I know my parents would not help me so I never bothered.

    That expectation pees me off

I studied at University over 20 years ago and was lucky to have received a grant. I have since earned a good wage and paid taxes and have never claimed benefits in my life. We supported my eldest through University but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control our income has dropped.
I posted this thread in order to ask a question and not to be judged by someone like you. Perhaps you could have your rant somewhere else by starting your own thread.

Drop will be met, so submit the year you earned £40k, then ask them to do a current income assessment. Forms for that won't be available until nearer the time I imagine, but SFE will sort those.
