Last December, early one morning, I went to the loo, only to see a mouse running around the bath.
I nearly passed out. I have cats and assumed it had been brought in and dropped. I then looked over to my bedroom and saw one running though my pile of wrapped (soon to be given out) Christmas Presents.
THERE WAS TWO!!!
The mouse in the bathroom was trapped and freed far away. The other...well the cats got hold on him and he went to mouse heaven.
We called a council run pest controller. 2 days later he came out. did some digging and found thousands of mice droppings. He also found the hole where they were coming in. This was sealed up. Traps were placed around the house. We had a massive clear out of rubbish and tat, (so that was a bonus).
The pest controller came back last week and said there is no evidence of any mice coming in since he last came.
£60- very worth it.0 -
Not all cats will get rid of mice.....just for the record, however if you know someone who has a good mouser could you just have it in the flat for half a day so you don't have to look after it other than water and a way to go to the loo. To be fair, the fact that you may not be feeding it/ looking after it, would be a plus if it's a mouser.
Mine is ruddy useless. Give her a dog to terrorise and she's up for it....mice are just boring to her it would seem.
So not all cats would be helpful.
I'm really shocked you aren't able to get some help being on benefits....i'm sure years ago the council did it for free.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Our cat has caught a few mice in our house, she loves the thrill of it! It may be a "natural" pest control method, but it's not at all "humane". Cats torture mice, they rarely go for a quick kill! We found a ball of mouse entrails in our hall, still warm (when DH picked them up with toilet roll), not another part of the mouse was to be found  It was disturbing, but at least I think it served as a warning to any other mice and we've had none since!
Decent traps with tasty bait will hopefully work, but usually when it gets warmer the mice will leave anyway.
