Woolwich Mortgage Application HELP

So, after a very rocky ride and lots of paperwork, we are finally getting somewhere. My broker has submitted our full mortgage application today - FINALLY! Although they now want more paperwork, all the same as last time but now through the post.
My first question is, how are we meant to send originals of driving licences? Is this normal? What would happen if we needed these whilst they were not in our posession?
And... We had previously entered our sort code and account details into a direct debit mandate which we have to fill in again and send by post. However, they have now entered some of the information for us. We had previously entered the address of the branch that we use but it has been changed to:
Lloyds Bank PLC, Chelmsford Legg STOSC, 1 Legg Street, CM1 1JS - which is not our branch and when I googled this, it says it is not actually a branch, it is a regional office.. Anybody have any idea what this is about? Is it their mistake or is that correct?

Seems odd that you have to post it- I have never had to do that.

  • I thought so.. I don't see how you can be expected to be without your passport or driving licences.. Have I misunderstood the term 'Original Copies'?

    Yes.

The clue is in the name... original COPIES lol.
If they wanted originals, they would have requested originals.

If you have a broker, they should have your ID already and should be taking care of all of this for you. Is it a broker or have you just gone in branch?

  • Oops.. it didn't say 'copies' it says:
'Please print off the attached declaration forms and sign the declaration & direct debit mandate and return this form together with the ORIGINAL documents that you faxed to us.
    - 'Your ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED latest full bank statement showing salary credited (online is ONLY acceptable if the print out has your full name and account number on it AND there are 3 complete month’s worth otherwise you will need to order a postal copy as soon as possible)
    - your ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED last three months’ ( or 13 weeks) payslips & P60
    - your ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED 2 x proof of address

For all documents we need to see originals, unless you can get copies certified by a solicitor.
Please post these, along with the declaration forms from us. We will return these to you.'

So I guess this does mean originals right...?

You can use a solicitor to take photocopies and certify them and post those copies or you can post the originals.

  • Is it better to send copies?

Your broker has said either will be fine.

  • Hi, we have just started a mortgage application with the Woolich. We had a provisional agreement but has now been passed to an underwriter. All our documentation was scanned over to them by our mortgage advisor. They replied the following day requesting just one months bank statements.

These have now been sent yesterday but having to wait 3 working days for a reply. Is this a similar experience to you? I'm on tender hooks waiting to hear if we have been accepted or not. (We are first time buyers)

    Thanks Jess

Everytime you send something to Woolwich it's another 48 hours at least. How many months bank statements & payslip depend on the LTV & your credit score.

Never send original DL or Passport the broker will stamp the copies as certified true copies & sign them then they go in the post.

Woolwich always want original signatures on the DD & dec & specimen signatures. Those three forms are mantory.

Hope you get the mortgage agreed but you may be asked for more things so don't panic.

Original DDM is mandatory only for BTL now.

Residential they now accept a scanned copy.
