Good luck with your 2008 challenge. I am sure you can exceed this. Especially if you do lots of AQA'ing :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

I promise I will try harder with the AQA'ing

I have been accepted for an MBNA credit card
I'm actually a bit scared as I've never had a credit card before, and I only took it out cos of Martins recommendation in the email. I will cut it up when it arrives, I'm just gonna move the money across into savings and hopefully make a bit of money to go into the mortgage fund
I've also signed up with Lovefilms payg service through quidco which will go into a movie hamper, so it cost me £24.00 for 6 months but I get £15.00 back through quidco
Also tonight I've been chatting to cutie guy for hours ... he has a girlfriend and even though I refer to him as cutie guy I see him as a friend rather than a potential-anything-elseHe does however have a single friend who sounds quite interesting
So, the plan for tomorrow, seeing as i havent moved off the sofa for hours tonight, is .....- Go to Tesco and blitz the odds needed for presents
- Buy Mums xmas present
- Put up xmas cards
- Wrap up all presents
- Buy some cellophane for hampers
- Post xmas cards
- Cancel old mobile
- Clean clean clean !!!!

Sounds like a busy day ahead:D
Don't forget to allow a little "relaxation" time for yourself before DS comes home again. The only perk I have found from my op so far is that I am exempt from cooking and cleaning duties for a little while:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
In fact i seem to be spending my time writing lists:rolleyes:  and making spreadsheets. I'm going to attempt the xmas/b'day cash neutral challenge over on the xmas board, reckon I will need around £750 - 800 but think it is doable over the year.
You are already well ahead with all your vouchers etc, I'm on target for another boots voucher from pigsback this weekend, have had about £150 this year so hope to keep that up next year, but not much else in the way of vouchers. i have already paid for next years hols using quidco/topcash money so next year can use any money made there for xmas spends.
What plans have you got for your mortgage overpayment apart from AQA and the CC thing? Any ideas I can borow for xmas challenge?0 -
I don't really have any major plans, hopefully the money will sort of appear in dribs and drabs as it has this year
Looking back at my chart for this year, the money has come from ....
- overtime / bonuses in previous job
- interest on savings (all money for overpayments goes into a savings account and then I pay it off a couple of times a year. Also money for utilities / car tax / tv licence etc all gets put in a savings account every month and then paid when the bill comes, so I get the interest in the meantime)
- mystery shopping
- aqa
- survey sites
- ebay
- car boot sales
- quidco
- payrises (new amount goes into pot by direct debit)
- green metropolis
Other than that, it will be odd bits here and there, chucking £2 coins in the terramundi, trying to cut a bit more off bills ... I budget a certain amount each month for electric /water etc, and if I can get these to come in at a lower amount then the difference goes in the pot, same for car insurance when its due etc.
Then its also a case of not going mad in the sales, this is my one weakness, I avoid shops most of the year but when the sales are on I tend to go a bit mad, especially online
I will post any other ideas I think of for making penniesMortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000

and the rest on food and sweets and stuff to finish off presents and dull stuff like sellotape

Hi, I've been reading bits and bobs of your thread and wondered if you could explain about the quidco that you and others mention. I've recently separated from my hubby and really could do with keeping a tighter rein on my money and getting any extra i can! Thanks...0

quidco is a cashback site ... basically it "introduces" you to other sites and the other sites pay quidco a fee for it and they pass the fee onto you ... you can get cashback from things you purchase, so for example if you wanted to buy something for £50 from M&S you could go onto the quidco site and then click through to M&S's website and do your shopping, and then M&S would pay quidco (think it is 3%) which they then put in your account. Quidco charge £5 a year for it but I have made several hundred pounds this year from it. You don't always have to purchase things either, some websites pay you for registering or there are free trial for dvds and stuff like that ... I got £8.50 for applying for a credit card thi week (wont use it), always check through there first when you're doing car insurance / home insurance etc as theres huge money to be made there although sometimes there are better offers elsewhere so do shop around
There is a big thread with loads of quidco offers on it, I think its on the referrers board, have a look over there but definetly go and join its wonderful !!!Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
