UKPC - Camera Fine

Hi everyone,

I have looked at the sticky thread and drafted the first stage letter to UKPC but have not sent it out yet.

Here is my topic --

I got a new job so I was awaiting a permit for the car park. I parked in Matalan car park (New Malden) As I can remember there were no car park signs but I will confirm this when I go into work during the weekend. So I assumed I could park there...

Ive parked there for nearly 5days now and only today I recieved a letter from UKPC with my cars picture and number plate caught by camera. I do understand this letter is in regards to the first time I parked there so im assuming ill recieve 5 more charges. Just so its clear i've parked there for about 5-7 hours and out of all honesty I did not know it was regulated at all.

- 5 days = 5 charges, £60 each
- no signs that I could see but will confirm
- caught by camera not a window parking charge
- new job was for a different company not anything to do with matalan

1) What should I do? wait for the rest of the tickets and appeal them at once?

2) Simply ignore?

3) Should I contact the Matalan store? if so what should I say to them?

4) UKPC - The template letter in this forum. After I send it what will be the outcome assuming people have done it before?

Any help is much appreciated! PLEASE:doh:

  • Appeal each ticket using the standard "First Appeal to the PPC" template here..

UKPC are cancelling charges on sight of a forum appeal letter. If you want to save the cost of a stamp then you can upoad the appeal onto their web-site, just make sure you take a screen shot of the uploaded appeal.

Do not ignore, and make sure you keep track of each appeal - wouldn't want one to slip through unchallenged.

  • Ashy,
There are two ways of getting these tickets cancelled:

    1. Follow Ezerscrooge's advice by submitting a forum template appeal. UKPC know that anyone who has the gumption to send an initial forum appeal will also have the gumption to send a winning forum POPLA appeal, so will cancel now and save themselves the £27 fee.

    2. Have a bit of fun by playing dumb and appeal on mitigating circumstances, get a POPLA code for each ticket and submit a winning appeal. UKPC are dead easy to beat at POPLA, and you get the consolation of knowing that you've cost them £27 x 5 :j
