House hunting? Don't forget........

https://www.onthemarket.com is now live. I found this out today when 3 properties I was watching on rightmove disappeared. I phoned the agent and they informed me that it is now on there.

Shame there is no app yet and the site lacks alot of info.

Thanks tea bag. I had a look on there today and it doesn't get my vote. There doesn't seem to be a filter to view houses added in past 3 days/24hrs. Just filter by most recent but I know exactly which properties are in my area and on the site it doesn't reflect accurately when they came on the market. Possibly it is showing the order in which they were added to the site but it isn't useful for me really.
Perhaps once it's been up and running for a bit.

I'm the same Rosie- I like to look at things that have come up in the last 7/3/1 days, especially as we're now in a chain so I'm not actively looking, but being nosey!

They've less filters etc - and, if you sort them by "lowest price" then change one of the search filters, it resets back to "highest price" order every time. Annoying. Not able to filter down like the other sites so readily, or sort in more useful sort orders.

It's clearly not everywhere yet - there are apparently no 3 bed properties in my area where as rightmove says there are more than 300.

I use home.co.uk they grab listings from most places, tho I don't think they have added onthemove yet. It's clunky but useful.
When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.
  • The problem with OnTheMarket.com at the moment is that recently added properties are not what you expect. As with it being just a new site, all the recent properties are just what the estate agents have added and not necessarily recent.

Not a fan. I feel they're doing what they claim they oppose, strong-arming others.

In any case, Zoopla appears to have come off much worse where I live. Almost all the big players have jumped ship! Shocked to say the least!

I happen to like Zoopla, they offer a different experience. So far onthemarket isn't offering anything different to Rightmove.

  • I find it ironic that estate/lettings agents are feeling ripped off so they all joined forces to create OnTheMarket. But isn't that what EAs/lettings agents are in business for - ripping people off?

Just checked and thank god my house isn't on there. At the moment its just the cowboy firms that have taken to it in this area.
