Is there any software that adjusts the sound level when ripping cds to the computer. What I mean is some cds you get are recorded on a quieter level than others meaning you having to adjust the volume when listening to different artists. Is there any software that you can make settings and have it so that all audio ripped to your computer is at the same level ie either raised or lowered?
Hopefully you guys understand what I mean and I haven't confused you. Thanks

Windows Media Player does this for playback. It's in View, Enhancements, Crossfading and Auto Volume Levelling.0

And for any tracks you already have that aren't normalised, you could look at using Mp3Gain.

You'll need to use a player like Winamp to support it

The great thing about such a technology, is that it doesn't change the track itself at all, so you don't lose any quality etc... All it does it work out how much louder/quieter to play the track, and adds a tag to the music file.
Winamp then changes the volume depending on the value of this tag. You can easily remove the tag, or switch off Mp3Gain support in Winamp. I use it for all of my tracks (in Linux though)."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0
