When should I switch?

I am currently on standard tarif for dual fuel with swalec. I've found eon looks cheaper but swalec said it's better to wait till the fuel drops in price before I take a 1 year fixed plan. I have looked at eon and it's only £5 to get out so should I just switch anyway? Also is it best to go through a switching company or direct??? Please help. Confused!

Ignore SWALEC's advice - they are just trying to keep you.
Choose the lowest fixed tariff based on your projected annual consumption for gas and electricity (in kWhs), and switch now. Choose a tariff with no or low exit fees (E.oN v15 for example) and you can switch immediately if energy costs fall further. Switching out of E.oN would cost you £10. Beware: some of the smaller energy companies have exit fees of £30 a fuel. Switches now go through in 17 days. Use MSE CEC and you could get £30 cashback. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
