Can't find info at Credit Bureau?

Hi. I found this website upon trying to learn how to improve my credit rating.

For some reason, I've always had bad credit. I don't even know why, I don't think I've missed any payments in a long time, I paid off my overdraft from my Student account..

I would have done more but I seem to get rejected for everything. I applied for a phone contract 2 years ago and got rejected, had to take a lower contract instead which I thankfully passed. I applied for an Argos card around the same time and was rejected. I recently attempted to try a new phone contract just last month in the hope that things get better but still didn't pass. In the end, I had to ask my partner to set up a second contract her in name just so I could have a phone.

What's going on? I tried doing a test to see if I would be eligible for a Cashback card on this website (in the attempt to show a lender I could pay stuff back by using it) and the thing fired back at me saying that it could not find my details at the credit bureau. Is there any chance this could be related to why I'm failing everything?

I recently transferred my poll card to my address to - in case that was somehow connected.

Please give me some advice.. I worry for my future. I want to provide for my girlfriend and I and look to the future promisingly hoping to have my own house and a child. I've held a job consistently for the last three years, paid off everything I can think of, have no outstanding bills, regularly pay utilities, rent, etc... I don't know what else to do. I don't want to be in the position where it comes to having a child someday in the future and not even being able to get a mortgage to put a roof over it's and my girlfriend's head.

Thanks,
DN.

Just to check are you in the UK?

Do you mean you have recently registered to be on the electoral roll at your correct current address? If so then not being on the electoral roll can have a big impact on your ability to get credit, but if you have not registered then once this fees through to the credit reference agencies (possibly 2-3months) then this should make a big difference.

In terms of getting copies of your credit files from the credit reference agency - if they cannot verify you online then you can choose the postal version of your statutory credit report, which is £2 per agency.

  • Hey Tixy, thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I didn't know about the electoral roll thing until I started looking into this until just last week so yes, it has not been long. I was not aware that the electoral roll could have such a big impact. Annoyingly, I am due to move again soon so filtering in the process of months is not convenient for me. I also cannot help moving around.. it's something I've done for a while. It's frustrating that that constitutes to credit score but think it might also be associated. I don't know how I can help that exactly mind. My partner and I are looking to move to a property soon where we're hoping to stay for many years (until we can get a mortgage on a property of our own, so hopefully, that will help. Her credit history is really strong but she's always registered things to her parents address so, that probably explains that).

£2 per agency doesn't seem so unreasonable, I've looked around and can't find where it mentions this though - is there any link that you have that could help?
