August DTA300B digital aerial, simply plug it in and connect to aerial port.
I have only one aerial outlet in the house and needed to connect 2 TVs, so used these instead: they're discreet and excellent.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

Very sceptical on the use of internal ones. Had awful experience with one at old house (only a few miles down the road) and being surrounded by trees here and with our upcoming weather I can just predict carnage with the interference.

Theres 2 satellites (each one servicing 2 properties)

Are you saying there's a Sky/satellite outlet in the flat? If so, get a cheap Freesat box - there's no subscription and it works off the same signals that go to a sky box (obviously you only get "free" channels)

    http://www.freesat.co.uk/

The boxes can be had for less than £50 on e*ay.

Got a freesat box already. Can't have a recorder as we only have one outlet from the satellite.

I need an aerial specifically though to have a BT Broadband & TV account here.

Don't want Sky before that's suggested

I'd have it put up by someone properly with the warranty and insurance etc then have a friend of a friend remove and fit on next property if necessary (they are qualified and trained but their company is expensive in comparison)
That doesn't make much sense. Why not have this friend install the aerial in the first place, potentially saving yourself upto £100?

So, let me get this straight. You've already been provided with a dish, and have access to freesat. Now you want your LL to install an aerial for you so you can get BT Sports as well. I think you're not pushing hard enough. How about a 42" UHDTV, lifetime subscription to Spotify Premium and a gold plated dishwasher as well?

Only a 42". Is it slum landlord? You want something better than 42".

And a cruise whilst they install the TV and surround sound and antenna.

Dont forget to ask for some spending money also.

I'd happily install the aerial, but as a LL who becomes a nightmare to get even basic essential works done (e.g. an insecure window took her 3 months to get fixed invalidating the home insurance) I'm not planning on doing her a favour and leaving it behind.

Obviously she's not going to be paying for any tv Internet package I bring in - so wouldn't really say I am taking the Mick.

If you count up aerial, labour and warranty it's cheaper to use one company, then use my friends company to just do labour at a later point.

and then be £120 in arrears with the rent.

    Great idea!

Tenants cannot simpky spend money on properties willy-nilly and claim it off rent I'm afraid.

I said "offer", not just do it. I've lived in rented properties before were you can make such arrangements, it depends how well you know the landlord.
