Painted the skirting boards brilliant white gloss Homebase range I think late 2011. For some reason it's gone all yellow in lots of patches since then. I think I best redo it but what will stay true white please?

Could it be knots showing through, which you didn't seal? Did you use an oil based paint?
I gave up on 'gloss' paint years ago and use a water based paint like this. Crown do something very similar.
There are plenty of people on here that hate the stuff but for me, I think the upside far outweighs the downside (e.g. hard to get a smooth finish).
Stays white which is why I use it and the satin finish looks much nicer (imho). Low volatiles too so low odour.0 -
I'm guessing bare skirting should be 'primed, undercoated and then top coated with something like 'Dulux Trade DIamond Eggshell'?0

I agree with Chunks, in fact I'm on my 2nd coat of a door at the moment using Johnstones 1 coat satin white water based, it's never 1 coat in a million years but 2 coats looks good to me and it stays white0

We used dulux satin white (the oil based stuff) 2 years ago and it really did yellow, but was only obvious when we just repainted it.
We did briefly try the quick dry water based stuff but the coverage was dire and the time saved in drying was by far outweighed by the time to do multiple coats.
We've been *really* impressed with Leyland trade emulsion, especially the coverage even as a mist coat on new plaster, so might try their satin white next0
