please dont be defensive over this post. i usually vote labour as i believe in support for the poor, but i believe in aspirations too, such as in life to own shares, private pension, own house ,low taxes, business owner.
hence im a bit of a cross between labour/conservative voter.
can anyone confirms labours manifesto on changing the new pension freedoms, as id hate to find out they are against it.
also labours manifesto on banning right to buy or reducing discounts.
these 2 points are prob most important aspects of my life at mo.

probably best for debate house prices sub forum.
Also, don't think the manifestos are actually out yet.0 -
im trying to save an emergency fund to pay for homeowner risks, maybe a years wages to cover repairs, etc before i do rtb.
just worried if labour get in, they can effectively ban rtb or lower discount virtually instantly.
also worried labour may force folk back to annuities, eg i have been paying a good bit of my wages to workplace pension, to aim for drawdown in years to come.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Instead of posting on here, why don't you Google "Labour Party 2015 manifesto"
A word to the wise - just because it is in the manifesto doesn't mean that a particular policy will be enacted. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

It won't help to google, because as princeofpounds says the manifesto isn't out yet, although you'd have to think it can't be very far away.
But your warning is valid, especially if we end up in another coalition, when governing parties seem very happy to use that as an excuse for abandoning all sorts of manifesto commitments.0 -
If Labour were Socialists then it would be reasonable to assume they'd oppose RTB... But as socialism near-disappeared with Blair, and as electorability is more important than principles to most politicians... I'd say there's not a snowball's chance in hell that RTB would be abolished by any future Labour administration.
And while RTB is often seen as a tory, Thatcherite 'bribe' I guess any old lefties out there could take comfort in the fact that, while RTB blew a hole in the supply of public housing, it redistributed wealth...
sometimes big time! Like the Council RTB in Chelsea which went to a tenant for £48k in 1989 and was on sale for £1million late last year...

(now maybe someone will repost this on the 'debate house prices and the economy' forum so we can get a proper argument going, Comrades?)0 -

As someone who works in central gov, I would suggest the chances of any new policy being enacted 'virtually instantly' are slim to none.
Realistically, within the first year of the new gov, perhaps the first 6 months.
Drafting the policy, impact assessments, consultations - it wouldn't be a hasty business. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
House Bought July 2020 - 19 years 0 months remaining on term
Next Step: Bathroom renovation booked for January 2021
Goal: Keep the bigger picture in mind...0 -

I think I'll wait for the actual manifesto thanks.0 -
I'd vote for anyone who removed the right to buy (i.e., redistribute taxpayer's money to individuals to buy votes, while depleting the stock of social housing), but sadly, that horse bolted long ago."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

labour like the other political parties support themselves (the party) first after themselves (personally)."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0
