bensons for beds

Options
after waiting a month D-day for our lovely new bed arrives, drivers were lovely so praise for them.. but now to the main part...

our bed is the 'connoisseur Supreme' with a hefty old price tag to it too, but we liked the bed and ordered it... this morning it's arrived, with a broken drawer and a full packet of parts missing.... near on a grands worth of bed and it's missing parts!! poor delivery guys have tried to do their best but the whole thing has now left me in tears, all bensons have said so far is they're going to send out the missing parts in the post and sort out a new drawer.. have signed for the mattress in good condition but refused to sign for the base. i'm unsure now what to do, obviously it's cost us a LOT of money and we have no bed until we get the parts, seriously expected better than this

having spent almost 40 minutes on the phone to customer service it's going to take 7-10 working days for the parts to come through, i think we'd have been better off getting another 2nd hand bed as we always have done. so so so upset and have to get it off my chest, seems they've managed to cover their backs in every single way possible
  • A packet full of parts missing? What bits are they?

Will this prevent use of the 'connoisseur Supreme mattress' , could you put the base on the floor, mattress on top and enjoy until the parts arrive, and the replacement drawer will slide in afterwards. . . "in tears" seriously?

Yes what parts are they? The only parts I can really recall getting are the castors and the clip things at the back for the headboard.

You are overreacting a bit. It's unfortunate but these issues happen and it really isn't that much of a problem. You can still use the bed perfectly well until the parts arrive. I don't really see why compensation or tears are necessary.

What sort of compensation are you expecting for this?

I can understand your disappointment - you 'treat' yourself and it turns up unusable and you have to wait even longer.

I think you've little option but to either use your old bed if you still have it, or use the mattress on the floor :(
  • yes in tears, with the little finances we have it's been a massive thing to take out and buy it, the first actual new bed we have owned, so yes very upset. the room it's all in there is nowhere to put the mattress other than on top of the divan so we cannot use it, the property is small. the driver put the castors on one side of the divan before realising that they were not in the other side and missing the connecting bolts to put it together too, leaving one part of the divan higher than the other. the person that put it together said himself that i couldn't use it, so as it stands no i cannot use the bed, as the customer services guy also agreed, but i could somehow pull out the other castors? can't see how myself. sorry if i'm 'over reacting' but with what we have saved hard for i expected it to be complete without parts missing and the drawer being broken as soon as it was opened, maybe if i'd got it off the back of some lorry i would have lower expectations

Get a big flat head screw driver and yank out the castor and it's housing, it should just slide out.

    Thus making the bed level.

Missing connecting bolts shouldn't be a problem, as with no castors the divan base shouldn't move.

  • have managed to chock it up, still doesn't make me any happier to be honest, but it's useable at least. principal of the matter is a supposed upper range bed went past QC, past warehouse etc without being checked,
    ah well

Upper range will have nothing to do with the extra bits that are supposed to get sent out. It'll be the same people who do all the checking...

FWIW, we have a Bensons bed and mattress, and it is SO comfortable!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

must admit, first impressions of the mattress are good, gone down to 1 pillow and although i woke in the night i wasnt in the pain i was before, we both slept very light last night, not sure if its because it's an unfamiliar bed.. hardly moved position all night either which is unlike us, just to find a decent bottom sheet for the bed now, that's proving not so easy haha, all new to me, used to a simple double
  • My bf worked at Nestledown (suppliers of bensons) The guys who pack the bases have no QC after that point and are on time/money bonuses so are more interested in getting numbers. He has been left for a while and noticed they have also lost premier inn contract to hypnos. To compound matters Floor manager and his next in command have retired within the last years.
