Need Tablet with HDMI input

Hi,
I think I need small tablet with HDMI input.
Does anyone know of any please? I can only find ones with HDMI output.
Also please let me know if I've got this right:
I got a new surveillance system, and unlike my old one, the software only plays back each camera on Full Screen when in editing mode. As the resolution is not HD it gives me headaches when viewing on a large screen, so I need a small screen to view the lower resolution images.
(It makes no sense to use the highest quality, as that takes up more DVR space, and wouldn't last very long, plus I can see what I need to know on low-res).
So is it HDMI input that I need?
I found this tablet with "HDMI out":
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ProntoTec-Android-Tablet-Processor-G-Sensor/dp/B00HWQFV4K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422530877&sr=8-1&keywords=tablet+hdmi
but when I did a search and found out the difference between input and output, it implied the HDMI out was only to see the tablet's display on a TV screen.
I guess I kind of want the opposite. Is that right?
So do any suitable tablets exist? Or is there some kind of adaptor please?
thanks a lot.

I have never heard of a tablet with any sort of video input. I don't think they exist. You can get small video screens though. Check out Maplin.0

There is generally one thing with and HDMI input - a TV screen (or a monitor). You're looking for a small screen. You won't find a tablet with an HDMI input. You say making it HD is a waste of space, but it gives you a headache in SD - why don't you just prioritise your health and use HD?! You should be able to upgrade the hard drive easily if you need to.
HDMI, as well as being really great and convenient, also includes some pretty horrible copy protection, meaning that if a manufacturer made devices that could record from HDMI (like your hypothetical tablet), they could be prevented from making any more HDMI equipment!0 -
You need a monitor not tablet.0

Thanks a lot for your help guys - a small monitor it is then.
Looks like this one is most suitable:

Maplins as far as I can tell didn't have HDMI or VGA, but as they have an inferior search function, it takes longer to go through their products than Amazon.
Thanks almillar, good points!Look at it this way... In a hundred years who's gonna care?0 -
I'm surprised SD is causing you to have headaches, many people still watch SD material on their 50"+ TVs
Does the software only run under windows?
On my work laptop if I reduce the resolution of the screen I have the option of if it stretches to fill the full screen or if its becomes a smaller centred box with black bars around the rest of the screen. You could just do this and avoid needing to buy a new monitor
You can use software on a tablet to view what the screen of the computer is displaying, I use Mocha VNC for this, but the fresh rate isnt great so watching CCTV video isnt going to be pleasant0 -
Hi InsideInsurance,
I know what you mean, but this is quite a bit lower res than normal SD.
It's currently on the lowest quality setting. There are actually 8 quality modes and the highest one isn't even strictly HD, so that gives you an idea of what the lowest one is like. (Think crappy quality YouTube vids!)
I don't know know about you but I can't watch those on a large screen, although many people can (which is why I don't watch YouTube on my TV).
I plan to test out the other quality settings, but I still have a headache today, so I shouldn't even be on the PC.
The software isn't on my PC. It is on the DVR. You don't even need the PC on for it to record to the cloud via the modem.
There is a CD though, so you can control everything online, but I haven't got that far yet. I need to set my email up so I get alerts when motion is detected.
Once I've got it all set up online, it lets you see your camera views on a website. So I might not need a monitor at all eventually. Not sure - I've yet to find that out.
It's annoying that I can't read the manual because I have a headache!

(Also lack of sleep is a factor, so the screen is not TOTALLY the cause of the headaches)

Hmm... you said that you can access it through the internet. Most CCTV recorders use similar protocols for this, meaning you can download a free app on a phone or a tablet to view the CCTV remotely, which means your tablet idea may still be viable.
If you post up the make and model of the CCTV recorder unit, someone will let you know if the above is possible. The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

Thanks a lot for that Bowling_4_Gold, it's a Swann 960H.

I was thinking if I can access it online I can use my PC and make the browser window any size I want. If I can control the DVR from online and from the remote, then that might save me buying more stuff.
I might still get a tablet though - especially if that one in my first post is any good (at under £30).Look at it this way... In a hundred years who's gonna care?0 -

Good choice- Swann make their own app for Android- meaning it's likely a cheap Android tablet will work with your setup.
What you need to be careful of is compatibility- some apps may not work with certain hardware and versions of Android.
It's a good idea to set it up on your PC initially, to test it.The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.
