Ongoing house problems, but will try and keep it short.
Central heating system never worked properly from moving in on 1st Dec 2014.
Boiler had a safety certificate done in November 2014.
Found out today the following:
1) pump not got direct live to the boiler, so pump does not shut down, nor the boiler.
2). Boiler moved during other building works in summer 2006. No commissioning certificate, but building cert for works to extension carried out.
3) tank should have had a thermostat fitted when the new boiler was installed.
Our solicitors say that they 'assumed' it was ok, as they were not informed the boiler had been moved.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

Presumably you were satisfied with any tests you had carried out pre purchase ? , ditto any reg certs requested and supplied (or not)
Your boiler to get sorted i thinkNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Boiler installed in 2006. Previous owner stated boiler installed in 1981, with no mention of new, relocated boiler being installed. If they had, solicitor would have asked for certification current at time of re-fit, which can't be produced, as it wasn't done.
Seller or builder, me thinks.0 -

Did you not suspect something was up regards the age of the boiler , when viewing?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Seller said boiler was moved in 2006 and was being serviced/safety checked for sale.
But put on paperwork system installed in 1981 with no mention of the new-ish boiler.0 -

Yeah, there is a huge difference between an early eighties boiler and a 2006 or even 90s one.
And caveat emptor applies here- a surveyor will have said 'I'm not qualified to say' so it would have been up to you to get your own independent checks done0 -
Spoke to the builder and they said they didn't move it, so guessing homeowner (unqualified) did it.
Electrician booked to wire pump correctly to boiler and hope this works.0
