Cheap Energy Club - Switch Again?
I changes supplier as part of the October Cheap Energy Club offer.
Is the Winter Switch Event 11 now being offered as a further saving on what I've already signed up to and am I being encouraged to change again?
Thanks
Wizzer

How long is a piece of string ?
Unless we know your supplier and tariff + your annual usage for both fuels and what you are being offered we are as blind as you !0 -
Enery Club seems to be wrong on my tarrif- shows extra energy tarrif as
Gas
Unit rate 3.670p per kWh Standing charge 20.037p per day
Electricity Unit rate 11.732p per kWh Standing charge 18.402p per day
but on my account at extra energy it has the following
Fixed Price September 2015
Supply type Standing charge Unit rate
(per day) (per kWh)
Electricity 19.70p 10.68p
Gas 18.29p 3.32p
The energy club says ver 4, accnt has no ver no. At the time I switched it was because the energy club said it was the right time and this was the ver I kept in the energy club, it now makes me wonder if I am being shown prices ex vat by extra energy or
how accurate the energy club is?
I'll need to check out vat thing first0 -

Doesn't seem to be VAT, VAT is charged at 5% on energy and the units you have quoted are not 5% apart.0 -
I cannot understand the Lemming-like approach that some people have to following MSE's advice. This headline switch will not save many people that much money. It sits 10th in my list of best deals and is £12 dearer per annum than the tariff that I am on. That said, the devil is in the detail. The unit price per kWh for gas is 10% higher than E.oN but 15% less per kWh for electricity. The latter saving is offset by a higher standing charge. It follows that if this continues to be a cold winter then, as I have gas CH, I am better off staying with E.oN. Conversely, if electricity is the major variable in a home, then the Sainsbury's deal may well make sense - apart from the £60 exit fees when the next CEC 'Spring Switch' comes along.
It is perhaps time that MSE/CEC gave its followers a list of things that they should consider for each tariff. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Yea I was thinking that , did a VAT add on after I posted, I was also thinking about it a little more, and I was sure I read suppliers had to show prices inc Vat for domestic customers, but could be wrong on that? think i'll just try and work out the totals myself as the energy club prices seem to be wrong
Maybe the Energy club should have a function where you can add the actual prices you have on your energy bills as opposed to ones that seem to be different from what you actually have to help you receive a more accurate comparison?0 -

Well, in fairness, there are people who are busy etc and don't necessarily have the time to devote to this. That said, I would still check the figures myself. If I get money out of the hole in the wall, I always count it and don't 'rely' in the machine getting it right! That said, the devil is in the detail. Too often people dont use the Kwh used but give the amount they pay. Unless the Kwh data is used, the results are potentially skewed somewhat.sense - apart from the £60 exit fees when the next CEC 'Spring Switch' comes along.
For me the exit fees are too much - I'd rather wait and see. If there are no drops this next year then I will have lost a little but as it stands I have my options open to switch if something comes along. The £60 exit fees will debar me from all but staggering changes - other than possibly a switch to another Sainsburys tariff without fees.It is perhaps time that MSE/CEC gave its followers a list of things that they should consider for each tariff.
It might help - though most of the points are covered in various places - thus tricky to cover everything in brevity.0 -

all i'll say is MSE is all about money now since it was sold, so your going to get the "switch now" all the time when something new comes out
do a comparison to see if it is indeed cheaper.
the so called cheap energy club deal was over £200 MORE EXPENSIVE for me, so its not all what its cracked up to be for some.0
