On this drill, it is coated with grease, and is black in colour,
the metal part of this outer drill is black too.

When you use this, 5 times (to do 5 holes in wood)
Then will this black colour of the black coating grey? (showing wear and tear?)
or 5 drilled holes wont be enough, to make the outer layer wear out.
Will its black colour go grey?
or it will last many drilled holes, and still be black

Does it matter? Whether it's black, grey or pink, it will still do its job.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

AFAIK, carbon steel isn't naturally black, so it will have a thin coating on it as protection that will come off when used. It's whether it stays sharp is what you should look for?0

The black coating will wear off after a couple of uses. This means that no, you can't buy one, use it and then take it back.:rotfl:0

Its tradition, tools were traditinaly quenched after sharping in oil at a smiths shop, hence making them look black, now there given a coat of storage oil which gives the same appearance.

Ours has remained black after several uses, though it does show obvious signs of being used.0 -
I have found that any one that I used rapidly blunted.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
