Trying to find a cheap break in school holidays

I am trying to look into a family holiday for 3 of us, the problem is that my Daughter is 7 so is in school, so it needs to be taken in school holidays. The problem with that is of course prices go up so much during school holidays. Does anybody have any tips on the best places to look to be able to get a reasonably priced holiday during the school holidays? We have only taken breaks in the UK since my Daughter started school but would like to get out of the country if possible.

You can have a great holiday in a mobile home on a campsite for a week in high season in France or Spain near to a Ryanair served airport.
Have a browse of http://www.yellohvillage.co.uk for what some campsites have to offer.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Tips are DIY flights and hotel and go to places which aren't the usual tourist hot spots.0

Exactly as Davey said, steer away from package holidays and you'll easily find an affordable holiday in the school break using either hotels or self catering for accomodation.
If you're open to the idea of driving abroad France in the last week of our holidays is usually a good bet, northern Europe go back a week or two before us.
If you want to fly, northern Italy is a good bet, flights into Milan Malpensa with easyjet are dirt cheap all through August.
Another place we have enjoyed in the past is Sunparks in Belgium, it's like Centre Parks, but cheaper and you could probably do it Eurostar if you don't want to fly.
So, broaden your horizons away from the tourist packages and you're bound to find something affordable.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Yes as above late August is a good time as it's off peak in much of Europe.0

If you are going later in August consider flying from Scotland as it can be £100's cheaper when their Schools are back. Depending on where you live of course but I have saved a fair bit even taking in travel to Scotland and parking car or train fares etc!0
