Scaffold removal nightmare

Options
Bit of an odd one but does anyone know how to force scaffolders to take their scaffolding down??

My parents had scaffolding put up on their house in april last year for some work required to theirs and the adjoining terraced properties. They have since had a nightmare getting the scaffolders to come and collect the scaffold - they were originally recommended by one of the workmen doing some ofthe work on the property and there appears to be some sort of dispute going on between the scaffolders and this person with my parents caught in the middle!

The latest is after repeated promises to collect and failures to turn up or answer any calls or messages that my parents have now told him that they are going to start charging him rent of £10 per day that the scaffold remains up. Is there any other way to force them to remove it, i dont think it is a criminal issue so wouldnt want think police would get involved.

Thanks for any help anyone!!

  • Hire a scaffolder to remove it and leave it in the street, let them know it's there ready to collect and if it goes missing it's there problem.

You must WRITE to them (not email) saying that unless its removed within 14 days, you will hire a scaffolder to remove it and start an action in the County Court to recover all costs plus compensation.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • If they know it's at your property, then after a year, isn't it legally your? Unsolicited goods act?

Mine went after 10 days, after we said we were going to charge them storage costs!
