Hi ,
Looking for some advice on a trojan horse. My son has somehow infected his PC with trojan.ransomlock.g . Every minute his Norton 360 is blocking it but how do we get rid of it?.
I have seen a torjan.ransomlock removal tool online but is this ok to download?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit to your desktop.
Double-click the icon to start the tool.
It will ask you where to extract make sure it is on the desktop.
Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit needs to be run from an account with admin rights.
Click next to continue.
Then Click Update
Once the update is Finished select Next then Scan.
If no malware has been found, at the end of scan select Exit
If an infection was found, make sure to select all items and click Cleanup.
Reboot your machine.0 -

Antivirus products aren't a panacea, they do the best they can in a hostile and extremely complex landscape. Detection rates, especially of very new infections, can be surprisingly low. You cannot rely on an antivirus, hygienic internet habits are very important as well.0

I would second malwarebytes. Different antivirus programs are best for removing different infections. Trojans and viruses are written to avoid detection from as many AVs as possible.0

AVs detect what they intended to look for and that's viruses. Worms and trojans are a different animal and require a tool like mentioned above.0
