Please help! Flat has economy 7 meter? How to read it?
Hi all,
First of all I would be thankful for any help or information regarding the economy 7 tariff and metering. I have done my research but there's a lot out there and I'm stuck on what to do next.
Firstly, how do I even read this meter? I understand it has two readings but then it has a round clock below? Does that control the times or my energy provider? It will not let me post a photo
It's a sangamo meter
Also would i be sensible in trying an E-7 tariff for one-two months, but I fear i will not save given I work from 7:30am to 6:30pm?!
thanks for the help.

yes the timer controls the switchover. If its an analogue meter with low/normal readings, there is a little window on the meter, usually top right hand side , with an indicator pointing to which rate is active. the normal night time use of eco 7 is approx 12,30 am to 7.30 am, it varies a bit, but with your analogue meter there is a pointer at the bottom of the timerswitch pointing to the time it thinks it is now. If its not at the correct time, and they rarely are, your cheap 7 hours could be anywhere within the 24 hours. You will have to work out yourself where the cheap 7 hours is.when the cheap seven hours is adrift its to your advantage as it skews the low rate into a more usable timeslot. Night storage is wired direct into the cheap 7 hours where ever it is.
If its a digital meter, they usually have some indicator which shows the active rate, blinking cursor under or over the read, or the read blinks or "rate now " shows . They scroll through 3 reads, rates 1 and 2 and T for Total and a display of 888880
