EasyJet - they CHANGE the price at the last minute - is this illegal?

I chose my flights on easyjet site. The flights were put in my basket.
I went through to payment. I put in all the details and on the final page it showed me the total amount I would pay.
I hit 'confirm' and a window popped up saying one of the flights had changed price! It was now £6 more - did I want to continue?
I hit yes because that was the flight I wanted - it was unlikely to get cheaper if I went back to the selection stage.
BUT how legal is this?
From my point of view, I had seen a product listed at a given price, I had agreed to purchase it at that price.
the 'offer' was 'accepted'.
Next thing I know the price is changed at the last minute.
Has anyone else experienced this?
What is the legal position???

At the time you hit 'confirm' the offer was not accepted... that was you making an offer to buy at the lower price.
They then declined your offer, and proposed a higher price.
You then offered the higher price and your offer was accepted.
Could be that someone else booked exactly the same flights as you but just a few seconds before you, so got the last tickets at the lower price just before you hit 'confirm'.0 -
Duplicate thread - the other one is in Consumer Rights.0

I'd say that's exactly the reason, they sell x flights at £y and when all sold the price goes up to the next level. It's someone else's fault.0 -
Thank you everyone - i obviously need to be really quick on the draw!
And I know £6 doesnt sound much, but it was really the principle - i was outraged!!
In my head it was like a price of a product in a shop that got changed at the till.
Ps sorry about the duplicate thread - it's my first attempt and i wasnt sure where to put it.
Thanks gain everyone!!0 -
