Has anyone else come across MoreTh<n home insurance?
I was sent a quote by email. The email said click on the link to buy this policy online. I clicked on the link but the link failed. I had to telephone them instead. I spent 15 mins on the phone to be told I could not have my policy sent to me by email. I explained why I needed it emailing to me urgently. Mr Amwar insisted it is company policy. I asked to speak to a manager. 10 mins later (on hold) I was told that a Miss S Bradley would be calling me back. I left my email address - they already had it anyway because they had managed to email me a quote. What kind of modern business refuses to email a document to the customer (i.e. the one paying for the service?)

I was told I would get a call back - that was 40 mins ago. Perhaps I am in a queue of other disatisfied punters !

More than 2 hours later I had still not received a call back from the Manager Miss Bradley. I was treated to another 10 min fob off when I called them. Miss Bradley was not available and neither was her manager Mr Riaz. The company slogan is Where You Mean More. Seems to me that couldn't care less may be more apt.

Most insurers don't do direct emailing of docs due to dpa. They do however have online accounts to view print or download. Many do use email to tell you that you have bought it hwever
  • Whilst the law was changed to allow PDF certificates there is no obligation for insurers to provide such functionality.

Many insurers are trying to get into the digital age but technology changes are very expensive and time consuming and so not everyone is as advanced as others. Typically those using the telephone to buy are probably less likely to want documents electronically -v- people buying online and so if you had to decide which of the two you provide it for its fairly obvious.

Given you havent actually bought the policy but have seen the level of service you are getting BEFORE they have your money how do you think it will be AFTER they've been paid? Personally I'd be looking elsewhere rather than waiting for them to call back etc

You can download your details from the MoreThan website - it only takes a few minutes to register and print off :)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
