What this one does is allow ebay to target ads onto your web browser. Not just when you're on ebays site though, on any site :-
"We may use information we have about you to make sure that the ads you see, on the eBay site or elsewhere"
The following 2 boxes at the bottom are ticked
Yes, please use my information to show me relevant ads from eBay's ad network partners.
Yes, please use my information to show me relevant eBay ads on other sites.
Ebay are still not talking about there "we can spam you" change of T&Cs, and are STILL insisting it was 3rd party spam.
Its good to see ebay have there own interests at hand, and don't care about there customers assuming we ALL want this, and not opting everyone out as they could have done.

We may use information we have about you to make sure that the ads you see, on the eBay site or elsewhere, are as relevant to you as we can make them. We think these relevant AdChoice ads will personalize and improve your eBay experience. Any information we use for AdChoice follows the eBay Privacy Policy.
We may work with other companies, like website operators and ad networks, to show these ads to you. We do not share any information with other website operators and, our ad network partners have access only to some anonymous information about you (like eBay search terms, demographics and categories of interest), which they use to select the proper ads to display. We don't share your personal information with any of these companies, and we have controls in place designed to keep them from identifying you.
You have choices about whether we use your information in this way. You can tell us not to share any of your anonymous information with our ad network partners, and you can tell us not to use your information to show you relevant eBay ads on other websites. Anywhere you see the AdChoice button you can click on it to control how your information is used. If you opt out of AdChoice, you'll still see ads, they just won't be tailored to your interests.

I don't see the problem with this. Any website owner has a right to put ads or affiliate links (text ads) on their site. This site has loads of affiliate links on it. If you opt out you'll just see random ads by the looks of it, not no ads, as they won't be related to what you browse on eBay.
It's hardly a rip off or scam.0 -

Can you show me one?
I have not noticed any and my add blocker normally stops them so that could be why.0 -

Affiliate links won't get blocked, they are links that track where clicks come from. Basically when someone clicks on an affiliate link on this site it will get commission for any resulting sale/lead just like clicking on a banner does.
Affiliate links can easily be hidden, for example you can set up a redirect page on this site that redirects to the affiliate link.
This page is an example.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-dvd-rental
When you get to the tabels if you hover your mouse over the link you'll see the redirect address in the bottom left of your browser eg Cinema Paradiso has the link http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/redir/37ab7592. That then goes to http://www.cinemaparadiso.co.uk/?AdCode=AF6P,
The bit at the end (AF6P) will be this sites affiliate id.
I know some of the DVD rental sites pay £17.50 per lead that signs up for the free trial. Credit cards offer affiliate commissions of up to £40 per lead.0 -
Its not a rip-off, just another aspect of the major T&Cs that ebay and paypal have brought in, that hasn't been commented on.
I get no pop-ups and no ads on my browser, I also tend to avoid affiliates and go direct (unless theres money in it for me not to do so).
However, I feel its wrong for ebay to target you when you're surfing other sites.
These T&Cs only seemed to have appeared in the last week as well, assuming things they have no right to assume.0
