Probate: DIY transfer of house possible?

Hi,
My Mum has passed away. The estate is very simple with a house and a small amount of money left. Myself and brother are both executors and we inherit everything between us. We have applied for and been granted probate, which we did ourselves with no problems.
We now want to transfer the property title into mine and my brother's names.
The property has been in the family for a good number of years. It is not registered with the land registry and the deeds are held by the local solicitor. We have not yet approached the solicitor to find out how much it will cost but guess it will run into hundreds.
Would be grateful for advice as to whether it is possible (uncomplicated) to do the transfer ourselves and if so, what the process is given that the property is currenlt not registered.

Engage a conveyancing solicitor for a quote would be the first thing I would do."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

As above - you will have to register the property with the LR. (Changed from LA)0 -

Thanks for all the responses and very helpful links. It does appear to just be a matter of completing accurately the correct forms.
It would be dependent on what the likely conveyencing charges are as to whether it would be worthwhile to go the DIY route. I'll get some quotes. In the meantime, would be grateful if you could suggest a ball park figure I should be looking for, for a good quality service on this.
