Parking Eye fine

Need any advice as to what to do next?

I received a parking fine from Parking Eye back in July last year. Stupidly, I took old advice on these forums about ignoring the letters from Parking Eye and they will finally go away. In October, a court order was issued. I contacted Parking Eye to inform them that I am not willing to pay their fine of £85 for parking at Morrisons where I did my shopping and fed my two children in the car, thus taking me over the allotted time.

I acknowledged the court order online and was given the extra few days to complete my defence to dispute their claim. ParkingEye were then offered to go through the mediation route to which they declined and chose to proceed with their small claims court order.

I then received a letter saying they were willing to accept £65 and all claims would be dropped, to which I again, stupidly ignored their letter. It is now 2 months down the line and I have heard nothing from ParkingEye but can't help but feel like I should be doing something. I have heard of people contacting ParkingEye and offering them no more than £25 for costs incurred on their part.

Appreciate any advice on what I should do next?

my best advice would be a STRONG COMPLAINT to Morrissons CEO and head office, with proof you were a genuine shopper and demanding cancellation of this charge asap

surprised you havent already done this as they are the ones who engaged PE

PLUS IT WASNT A "FINE" , IT WAS AN INVOICE

PE cannot fine you, me or anyone else, only a court can do so

So have you had a Directions Questionnaire from the Courts? Have you heard it's been allocated locally yet, got a hearing date? You could ring your local County Court quoting the claim number and ask the progress and what if anything you are required to do.

I would be writing to the Court asking for a stay for the PE v Beavis Court of Appeal outcome, not offering money to PE. No case should be going to a hearing right now - the informed advice I would say is to find out what's happening form the Court and be proactive and ask for a 'stay' for PE v Beavis 2014/2010 which is less than a month away.

Let's hope PE haven't sent something to an old address of yours and got the case decided behind your back already. You need to find out from the Court, DO NOT ring PE and don't offer them money.

Morrisons won't cancel it without PE begging for £60 again. Morrisons are useless.

  • I have already spoken to Morrisons who have told me that as I did not speak to them when the parking fine was received and chose to follow online advice then they cannot help as it has gone too far by them issuing court orders and there is very little Morrisons can do now. I requested Head Office's address and telephone no. to which I was refused to be provided with such details and informed that head office will not deal with queries of this nature.

I have never thought about contacting the court.

Morrison's - as principal - can intervene whenever they like.

Sadler v Leigh is the case reference.

Contact head office anyway and inform them of the poor advice and obstructive behaviour of their local bod.

head office details can be found via the NEWBIES sticky thread and definitely in the successful complaints sticky thread linked from the crabman sticky thread (2 names with emails there) where they have been for some considerable time

local stores always tend to fob off customers

you asked what you should be doing, so these issues above are what you should be doing, and should have done previously - ie:- you need to be more proactive

It's our standard advice (post #5 of the NEWBIES thread is all about small claims & what to do when) to contact your court after you've had the Directions Questionnaire, asking for a stay for Beavis. No case should be heading for a hearing v PE right now, if the defendant is on this forum or pepipoo the priority should be getting your claim stayed till Easter after the decision in the CoA.

The info about the Beavis case is everywhere and my feeling about it is he'll win, IMHO, and blow much of this scam into the open. Hope I am right. The BPA and chums should have been more careful what they wished for (and they did wish for a case going to a higher court). They even discussed engineering one this far, with the 'help' of forum lobbyists. Tough BPA, you now have that dream and I don't think you are very comfortable right now.
