Scottish Power..... translation please
Logged in to my SPower account - checking for a better deal - got a quote - looks specific to me because I'm logged in to my account .......but then I read above the quote offered:
"The 'Monthly Direct Debit' value doesn't include any credit/debit on your energy account. Any balance on your account will be considered in the payment step to accurately calculate your Direct Debit amount."
What does "payment step" mean?

if I were u, I would use a comparison site and not rely on your current provider to offer the best deal out there.0

I always do NittyGritty - I just thought I'd do the easiest first seeing as how I was logging in to submit a meter reading and check my consumption ready to do a wider check....... they just about beg you to get a quotation ...... turns out theirs isn't an accurate quotation I can rely on in any case.
I've given up on ringing them to haggle down.0 -

OK... I've recently done this......
First of all, you click on get a quote - and it gives you a baseline figure of what your dd would be per month, based on your previous usage.
When you choose a tariff and click continue.... It will then give you another figure for the monthly DD which will be higher if you are in debit to them, and lower I'd you are in credit. ( you can get to this step and cancel if you don't want to go through with the change)0 -

If your consumption is estimated to be, say, £1,200pa then you would have a Direct Debit of £100 a month.
However if you had a debit balance of £xxx your Direct Debit would be set higher to clear that debit balance by the review date - normally Spring.
Conversely is you had a credit balance of £xxx your Direct Debit would be set lower etc etc0 -
Thanks - scared of clicking the wrong thing and finding I've signed up.
I didn't appreciate beforehand what a white knuckle ride it is being on a fixed income.0 -
When I switch online within Scottish Power, the monthly amount they give you is just an estimate. I usually get a message in "My Messages" when the new statement has been generated, and I am ALREADY on the new tariff, telling me what my new monthly DD amount is.
Don't expect it to stay the same. They say they review every three months, but I find that it's simply triggered by my submitting a reading.0 -
Just remember that if it is possible for SP to mess things up, they will make sure that they do so.Je suis sabot...0

For SP read it as Spurious !!!!-takers !
They will lie and cheat , ignore you and rip you off for as much as they can then refuse to pay anything they owe you !
I believe that Blair, Cameron and IDS are shareholders !0
