cheapest way from Leeds to London

Hello :hello:

I was lucky enough to get one of the £1 rooms in London and will be going 24th August, returning 25th. The chepest rail fare I've found is £74-odd. is there anyway of getting there cheaper?

any other tips for a cheapo two days in London gratefully received.

thanks :D

If you look for single rail fares each way there are still some available that total less than £74 return. Nowhere near as cheap as megabus though.

Buy a PAYG Oyster card for travelling around London. You can cash it in when you leave.

thanks very much I didn't know about megabus. brilliant!!

Now what to do when I'm there? I've done the touristy stuff before with the kids but with no kids this time I'm hoping for something more romantic :heartpuls with my OH. Which areas can we head to to soak up a nice atmosphere and i'd love to browse some markets too. I was thinking about chinatown, soho..is there anything there worth seeing??
Also good places to eat and live music anywhere would be great! :D
    thanks guys

My OH really doesn't fancy 5.5 hrs on a double decker! i think we may drive now and park outside of London.

spitalfield market sounds good..I'll check that out.

    Thanks again.:D

It's a way of getting cheap fares on the tube and buses in London. You buy one (each) at a tube ticket ticket office, put say £10 on it and the fares you pay are roughly half normal and deducted from it as you go. The maximum amount you are charged per day is capped at less than the price of a one-day travelcard so whatever you do you save money.

You have to pay a £3 deposit, but you can get this and any unused money back before you leave London

I travelled Leeds to London return on Megabus a couple of months ago. It was nowhere near as bad as I expected.

I travelled on a comfy coach with loads of leg room and it was actually a pretty relaxing journey. It arrived early on both trips as well.

Well worth the £10 I paid and it left us with more money to spend when we were there!
