Scottish Power boiler care - avoid - AVOID - A V O I D !!!

Options
Hi guys just want to warn you all and to stay away from Scottish Power boiler cover -
I have had cover with SP for 12 months but just before christmas I had heating but no hot water in my home, I contacted SP and they said they would send an engineer the next day for an AM appointment the engineer missed the appointment another was arranged but I couldn't be there but my wife was at home, the engineer arrived with just a screwdriver, he undone a screw and looked at the water that trickled out, he told my wife that the water was dirty and it needed a "power flush" which is not covered by SP ! He then left.
I arranged privately for another engineer to give me a 2nd opinion, I also wish to mention that my boiler is a Vaillant eco tec top of the range boiler which is only 5 years old and has been regularly serviced. The engineer arrived and did some checks and was confident that the problem was with a pump situated at the rear of the boiler, he also checked the water which the other ( so called ) engineer checked, he informed me that yes the water was dirty but this was normal as this was the water that circulated around radiators and and was a closed circuit and had nothing to do with the hot and cold water system !
He ordered the pump and said he would come around that evening to fit it at a total cost of £350
He arrived and after about an hour and a half it was fitted and we had hot water. He told me that these boiler care companies are using the "power flush" excuse as way of not covering the repair of boilers. He left me his card and receipt for £350, he also pointed out that he was a Vaillant agent and gave me his agent engineer number he also told me to ask SP if a water sample was taken and tested by the engineer that (wrongly) diagonsed my boiler fault
The following day I called SP was put through to their customer complaints department, aa guy by the name of Kevin Mc Laughiln, and after several calls to him he has not been at all helpful and refused to refund my £350 he also confirmed that no water sample was taken from my system, he also told me that SP has a £1000 per repair to a boiler but they did not cover a "power flush" so my boiler was simply not covered.
I have now cancelled my boiler cover with SP and will today contact trading standards and have now downloaded the paper work for the small claims court , I will be claiming £350 plus my 12 months premiums to SP and for loss of earnings for the morning I took off work when the engineer failed to turn uo.
I will keep you all posted on the outcome with my claim but in the meantime I urge you all to stay keep well away from SCOTTISH POWER - I also have my gas and electricity (duel fuel) which I am also cancelling
SCOTTISH POWER BOILER CARE AND KEVIN Mc LAUGHLIN SHAME ON YOU !!!!!!!!
