in Credit cards
Hi all
I was wondering how accurate the mse eligibility checker is. I've just opened a Santander 123 current account and am thinking of applying for 123 credit card.
According to eligibility checker I only have 30% chance of being approved and I don't understand why my chances are so low. I believe I have good credit history, I have 1 credit card which I pay off every month and never has any problems with and don't have any other debts. I earn good salary so don't think that should be a problem either.
I also have £40000 in an isa with Santander which the use tool wouldn't know about but Santander would when they do their checks. Would they take this into consideration and improve my chances of being accepted?
I don't want to apply and be rejected as this could be a negative on my credit file. Also next month I'll be depositing £20000 into the current account when a savings bonds matures would I be better off applying for credit card after I've done this.
I'd appreciate any advice

I applied all of them together and got accepted straight away.
I didnt have any such amount in my accounts.
Eligibility checker showed me something similar0 -
Santander credit card is separate from anything else 'Santander'. They won't be looking at your ISA or current account balance. They will look at your credit history.0

I would suggest going into your branch and speaking to someone face to face to do the application.
I was declined for a credit card recently after making an online application to Santander, due to a large hp agreement for a car which was recently taken out. This was the only negative factor against 5 positive factors and a high credit score of 975.
I had a meeting with an advisor in branch yesterday and received a text message this morning to confirm my application had been successful and my 123 credit card will now have 0% on purchases and BT for 23 months....even better than 15 months I was applying for in the first place.
My advisor was able to look at my credit file and the history of all my accounts with them and Ok'd the application pretty much there and then. The online/phone applications only look at your history, whereas an actual person will be able to make an informed decision, based on other factors, in your case your ISA etc.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. Ended up applying online and got accepted almost straight away. I was quite surprised by his quickly received acceptance email and it's showing on online banking. Hope the card turns up soon0
