P.S. if you go through moneysup3rmarket Eon comes up as the cheapest tariff and you can apply straight online via a button next to your quote. I would try and sort the overpayment first though.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Your leccy meter reads in kWh. No conversion necessary.
Your gas meter reads in volume: cu m or 100 cu ft units, depending on whether it is metric or imperial (it's marked on the meter). The conversion factor to kWh is shown on every bill you receive.
It appears that you have not been verifying your bills against actual meter readings. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

For instance our meter for gas reads units that are then transferred into kWH. But your annual usage numbers look like kWH and are about half of what we use and we pay about £1100 a year with EDF. So an quote of 500 sounds right.
As others have said. You must have had a estimated bill then every month as it unusual to be same every month. And maybe they were so high because they were based on the previous tenant's/owner's usage. Give them actual readings every month.
Also when was that final bill issued based on the last accurate reading. Maybe it just hasn't registered yet with your online account? Mine takes about 3 days after I gave them a reading to show the accurate credit/debit online.
Did it give you a payment history or balance on the final bill?
so if its a case that we have massively overpaid we should still be able
to get our money back?
i have just put today's meter readings in on our online acount and
it said from the 1st of this month to today after i put the meter readings in
our bill is £33.00
it was issued on jan the 19th.when i went online today it says on jan the 22nd we were £459.18 in credit and then on the same day it says there was a bill for £219.30 and then again on the same day a payment of £459.18.
what i dont understand we always paid our £125.96 between the 1st and the 5th of every month never after so i dont understand all the money activity on the 22nd?0 -

so if i add my meter readings to my online account on the 1st of every month then check it against the bill i get is this what you mean?
sorry if i sound so stupid just never done anything like this before.0 -
In view of the situation, I would hold off changing supplier until this is sorted out. You will get your overpayments back but you will need to persist. You need to know exactly where you are. Forget what SP says at the moment. What is the difference between your readings and theirs?Je suis sabot...0

Well done! I'm in a similar situation myself, finding it hard to believe that I really do use £110 of electricity per month, so it's good to know it IS possible to make Scottish Power see sense.0
