CreditExpert keeping login details after account cancellation?

Just asking for a bit of advice before contacting CAB etc.
Just cancelled my CreditExpert account. No problems at all with them, just going through expenses and cutting out on non-essentials.
The call centre guy mentioned that the account would be close, but that I could use my login username and password again any time, if I wished to use the service again in the future.
I thought that cancelling the account would mean they would delete usernames, passwords, together with payment methods etc. The operator could not really offer a logical explanation about why this could not be the case. And I am just a bit worried about security of large electronic databases...
Has anyone tried to close an account with them and be successful with a request to remove account data? Just to make clear, I am referring to username login details, I know that credit reference agencies can handle our financial/electoral etc data.
Thanks!

I'm almost nearly sure that companies archive your details for 7 years... anyone else?0

Hi Castrocloud,
That's a good question to ask!
We do keep your membership details for 6 years, so you can reactivate if you wish, and so we have a record of any payments taken and service we have provided.
After two years we can delete the membership details from our records if you request this.
If you are worried about your card details being held we can remove these for you once your membership is no longer active. (This would be after the period your membership was paid up to has passed).
If you would like us to remove your card details contact us and we can arrange this.
