The link calls them ice snow spikes.
Aldi sell something similar (fewer spikes) for about £2. I bought my husband some last year and he said they were very useful.0 -
It looks rather like what Wickes call a "mending plate" http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Mending-Plate-50x100mm-MP24/p/215033If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
It's a joint connector used for joining wood, on roof trusses etc. I would've thought the proper things are probably cheaper & more durable.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

That looks like a nail plate for connecting wooden beams to me.

Aha ! Thanks all !
I tried YakTrax last Saturday for a walk in the hills but they fell apart after a few miles. I'm now thinking of just attaching Hex screws to the soles of my walking boots.0 -
On the news it said to put thick elastic bands around your boots for gripping. Don't knwo how effective this is!0

I bought some of the hex screw in ones for my fishing boots, makes walking on slippy rocks etc so much better!0
