Replacing 1930 sash windows with uPVC - colour?

Options
If replacing the well-past-their-best-before-date c1930 timber sash windows on a terraced house with uPVC sash, would anyone have suggestions on the uPVC colour?

Options are;
a) plain white
b) white foil (white with a timber grain effect)
c) plain cream
d) light oak (not sure if timber grain effect or not)

Which do you think would be most in keeping with a terraced house of this era?

Thanks!

What are the timber sashes like now? Wood? White?

What do houses either side have?

Yes, currently they're wooden, painted white.

Windows in houses either side are standard white uPVC windows (not sash) and so nothing like the originals.
  • The white upvc sash windows look very smart. I had them installed in my previous property and loved them. I would have had difficulty choosing a colour so stuck with the white!

I think my preference is for white, I suppose it's the simplest option to go for.

I wonder which would look better, plain white, or white with a grain effect?
  • Personally, I'd just stick with plain white, when I had my windows it was also the cheapest option. I'd be worried the grain effect might look like dirt or something, but that is just my thoughts :)

Plain white. Don't go for fashionable finishes, they go out of fashion.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • Your wood windows have lasted for 85 years.

It's unlikely any plastic windows will have a lifespan even approaching half that.
