I have been unfortunate that I have needed assistance at two of our local hospitals (broken elbow after a fall and a suspicious lump) and quite frankly the staff at both hospitals have been exemplary.

Why not write and tell them? The poor NHS employees are receiving so much negative coverage currently, it's only right that those of us that appreciate the hard work speak up occasionally.

my mum has been under the oncology department of our local hospital for over 2 years - i can not fault her treatment in any way it has been 2nd to none. at her appointments before Christmas she takes in a huge basket of fruit for the department. as Christmas normally affects her appointments there is little time before her scan and oncology consultation meaning her scan has not been reported on in time for her appointment. the first time this happened her oncologist said he would be in touch if there were any problems with the scan. Christmas eve she receives a letter from the hospital, she fears the worst and calls me in a panic as she does not want to open it alone or share the 'bad news' alone with my dad. i get there as soon as i can and we go upstairs with the excuse of sorting Christmas presents. I opened the letter for her and read it. it was a thank you letter from the department for the lovely basket of fruit - panic over!!
this department is a shining example of what the NHS should be.
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
