Refund on "old" card

I have been offered a partial refund sum as compensation for a poorly administered Home insurance renewal - a repayment by VISA debit card - on my original card - used to purchase the insurance - I have since then changed my card with the same company...
Do I need to inform the insurance company of my new card number - or will it automatically be paid into my bank account ?
Because I know that it works "the other way" - ie Money can still be taken from an old card number..
