Ebay's Pre Paid return postage label can't track online.

I am returning an item and the seller agreed the return.
I have printed Ebays free return label and sent package via the post office.
The tracking no. begins with YE00277****GB
Ebay may have been allotted this range of numbers by Royal Mail solely for their returns but I can't get RM's website to recognise the tracking number.
Anyone else had this problem?

Royal Mail's tracking is ropey at the best of times. It may not track till it reaches its destination or scanned at a depot. It does look like the right format though. How long ago since you sent it?
  • Sent a ebay return with a very similar number and took a day or so before it was showing any tracking info.
Before that it was not recognise.

It won't track until it has been scanned at one of the mail centres. Try using https://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails

The package was scanned at the Post Office and I was given a POP.
When I have my own recorded labels scanned at the PO, I am able to see online that the package is progressing through the system with details of which PO I used.
Just wondering if was because of Ebays automatically produced tracking number or if anyone else has used the returns process with a similar tracking number.
Your link was the webpage I used.

It was yesterday and I normally find the tracking number gives some details very soon after it's scanned. It might be different with Ebay return labels.

It is different, this isn't a PO label, it's a RM label, once it's in the system with RM at a sorting/Mail centre it will be scanned and then you can use my link to see it through to delivery. It can't be scanned successfully by the PO, it isn't theirs.

I send thousands of parcels using RMT, don't worry. It's not a PO item. It will be fine.
