Hi,

Has anyone used Likely Loans before? I've applied and it says I've been successful pending further checks. Has anyone had this message before and been approved? Don't know if they 'pre approve' every body and then decline.

Thanks in advance

Have you really applied for a loan without even knowing what the interest rate is?
      1. The rate of interest in relation to your Account at the time of this agreement are from one of tiers A, or B below:
      2. Tier A) 39.8% (which equates to 47.9% APR), or
      • Tier B) 54.2% (which equates to 69.9% APR).
      1. We will set your interest rates when we open your Account and will tell you what they are.

    Hi,

Yes, I read that. Unfortunately having recently been made aware that I will be homeless in two weeks, I don't have a choice in the matter. As per my previous threads, I have been saving for somewhere to rent but due to a family breakdown, I now have two weeks to find somewhere to live and not enough money behind me to pay the fees etc.

Is an overdraft at your bank not an option?

Can you not put the extra spend on a credit card?
I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com

Unfortunately my credit isn't the best (Hence using Likely) so my bank won't allow an overdraft and my CC only has a small limit with no increase available due to the length of time the account has been open. But thank you for the reply

Without trying to sound too nosey, are you sure you are able to repay this loan?
It is going to cost you a LOT more than you are borrowing so next month you need to be bringing in more than you did this month.

Absolutely. I wouldn't have applied if I couldn't repay otherwise I'd be in this exact same position (Facing homelessness) in a few months when I couldn't pay the rent.

I understand that it will cost a lot more, but the alternative doesn't even bare thinking about. I can seek no help from the council etc as I am not seen as a 'priority' due to the fact that I work and have no children. I actually got laughed at by the council.

Contact the homeless charities in your area. Salvation Army and Crisis Shelter. So you don't slip through the net.
Blimey people should feel ashamed of themselves how unprofessional council staff. The weather bad enough and this is a difficult time for you. Any thoughts on YMCA?

Do you have the option of putting your personal stuff into storage and sofa-surfing for a month until you can get a deposit together? A week each with four friends would be easier to bear for them and you than a month with them, and if you could live out a suitcase you wouldn't be quite so in the way.

Could you look at a Monday to Firday arrangement online? Then you might nly need something for the weekends, which might be easier, and they often don't require large deposits as they are small scale and work on quicker turnarounds.

If the worst comes to the absolute worst, do you live near a town that has student hostels (tourist type things). It's a bed, a shower and a kitchen, and may be a cheap option. Certainly not ideal, but better than being on the streets.

I wish you the best of luck
