Is old Spanish joint account a risk?

Hi
Asking this for a friend of mine who is worried.
Some years back she had a joint account in Span with Banco Halifx.
This was used to transfer money from UK accounts to there.
The scum bag she was with at the time did the dirty on her and basically lost the house etc.
She moved back to live with her sister in the UK and has since married and doing very well.
The property was dealt with and transferred back to another bank.
Her concern is, while the joint account had no money in it, she never had any feedback when she tried to close it and has now lost all details having to move back to the UK at great speed due to the hassle caused.
Is there a risk to this account to her now? how can she try and make sure its closed or will it have been closed anyway as not used since 2009.

Of course, there is.sussexlad2009 wrote: »Is there a risk to this account to her now?
"The scum bag she was with at the time" racks up an overdraft - and she is jointly and solely responsible for this debt - unless it's different in Spain from UK.
It's very reckless to leave a joint account behind.
Only the bank or the account T&C can tell her. Even with a UK account it's normally not simple.how can she try and make sure its closed
Normally accounts can get dormant, not closed.or will it have been closed anyway as not used since 2009.0 -
Hmm, hate to pass that on, what's best to do?0
