i don't think there are although i would be interested!

I was talking to my dad about this, I only use my car a couple of times a month (yes i know, why do i have one...) and so I always put 5000 miles on the quote but it doesn't always reduce the premium much.

But my dad pointed out, obviously the less time the car is on the road the more time it is sitting on the driveway at risk of getting nicked... so I think after a point the premiums don't continue to decrease with mileage.

I realised I wasn't looking after my car quite enough when we got clamped (parking permit had fallen down) and i didn't notice for 3 days, SO lucky we didn't get towed!

Have you considered Pay As You Drive insurance? Do you think it will suit you?

    Norwich Union were trialling it.

It's only financially worthwhile for young drivers, as you have to pay a fixed amount for the installation of the tracking equipment IIRC.

Obviously on a £1,000 or £2,000 premium, it would be worth the up-front cost to halve it, say. But on a normal older person's £300 premium, it isn't going to work.

Friend of my son who is an insurance broker, told him that some insurance companies actually increase the premiums for low mileage drivers. I suppose its a case of lack of driving experience.

Particulary applied to people driving less than 4000 miles per year. Worth adjusting the mileage figure in your quote when using the insurance websites and see exactly what the effects are
