Computer won't boot up - Dell E521

What does anyone think the best options are- wait until a used motherboard becomes available (he's searched for one and not been able to source one) or get a new computer.
What computer ? I'd like a really low spend on it as I don't use a desktop much due to iphone and iPad and haven't got a lot of funds after xmas. I only use email, possibly a little Internet, storing photos, iTunes to back up iphone. Most important use is Citrix access gateway for my job.
Or should I start a new thread?
Thanks.0 -

The FDD was to assist in performing a BIOS recovery. The model is particularly problematic for many, but I have not observed anyone attempting a BIOS recovery.0 -
