Quote for fitted wardrobes

We have had a quote for fitted wardrobes from a local carpenter which seems very expensive to me, just wanted some feedback on what price I should expect to pay....
Wardrobe 1: 1m long, 2 doors (opening out, not sliding), combination of 2 rails and shelves inside. £1,100
Wardrobe 2: 1.2m long, 3 doors (opening out not sliding), combination of 2 rails and shelves inside. £1,300.
Both floor to ceiling, without a back, made of MDF which we will paint afterwards, shaker style doors.
We are based just outside London, in Surrey.
I have called other carpenters for quotes but no-one seems to get back to me!
Thank you

Back of a ciggy packet educated guess I would say its about £400-600 over the top. Most guys would be using MRMDF (Moisture resistant MDF) and probably softwood pine for carcasing, bearers etc. I'm guessing if the doors are "Shaker" style they will still use MRMDF.
Together they can probably be done in a week and probably no more than £300-£400 on materials. I think he has priced it high as he may not want the job but if you give him the go ahead he can make money or have the following week off on the golf coarse..0
