repair or money back

I purchased a second hand car from a dealer nearly 4 months ago ..It cost £3000 and came with a 3 month warranty..after about 5 weeks I noticed a rattling noise so I went back and it was diagnosed as a clutch and was duly replaced , however the noise returned and got worse along with a charging light operating intermittently ..again I took the car back and it had some more work this time on the belts and pulleys ..all was well for a week when the noise returned. The car is now out of warranty and I am now scared to go anywhere as I fear a breakdown..can I ask for a refund ?? is the dealer still obliged to rectify this ongoing fault ?? however I have a complication as there is now a minor dent ( I done it) which was not there when I purchased the car ...
many thanks

If replacing the clutch cured it, Then replacing the belts/tensioner cured it then it wont be the same issue as generally they are opposite ends of the engine.

You need to get the fault diagnosed properly.

Refund? No, the car has been sorted. You need to deal with your paranoia, for all you know it will be okay from now on.

How old, how many miles on this car? Remember, it might only be four months since you bought it, but it isn't four months old. Wear and tear happens, and isn't covered by any warranty or your legal rights.

I am afraid this is not a ground for rejecting a used car.

Well done for getting a wear and tear item replaced by the dealer though, some dealers would of done the standard body swerve on that one !

I bought the car in good faith ...£3k ...the terms were 3 months warranty on engine and gearbox there was no problem when bought , or I would not have bought it ....the seller gambled on selling a second hand car ...I gambled on buying a second hand car ...I paid for the car and also a 3 month warranty ..the fault appeared within 5 weeks and so far has not been fixed although he has tried , by a process of elimination ....as the fault was reported within the warranty period whether it be a wear or tear problem or not the dealer should rectify it ...that is the gamble ....unfortunately he lost ...on another note he now has the car back and is looking into it for me ....Under the warranty...
But thanks for all the input ....:T
