Can I claim on a potentially mis sold critical illness policy

Hi,
I recently saw a full page advert in last Fridays Metro regarding mis sold life policies from various financial companies. I have been paying into a critical illness/income protection policy with some life cover for the last 18 years or so from one of these companies and I am now unsure as to whether I was mis sold my policy.
I am relunctant to contact the company in case it's the wrong thing to do. Can anyone offer any guidance as to whether these types policies are included for claiming?
Thanks

I've not seen any advert but the complaint rates on life assurance is very low. There are not actually many complaints but most fail. Indeed, recent FOS decisions have seen rejections even where the person has no dependants (but a debt exists)I have been paying into a critical illness/income protection policy with some life cover for the last 18 years or so from one of these companies and I am now unsure as to whether I was mis sold my policy.
Why do you think there is any reason for mis-sale?. Can anyone offer any guidance as to whether these types policies are included for claiming?
You claim when you suffer a claimable event. e.g. death or critical illness. You seem to want to complain but have given no indication of any reason for complaint.
Are you immortal? - if yes, you dont need life assurance
are you immune to becoming ill? then you dont need income protection or critical illness coverI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thank you for your response. I am completely new to this site and unsure how much detail I should put in my first post.
I do not wish to complain but mearly understand, there has been so much news and information regarding the mis selling of financial products I was unsure whether I the policy I have held since my twenties was also coming under scrutiny.0 -

The issue is PPI. Not other insurances. There is no known widespread issues with other types.I do not wish to complain ....
That is actually what people are doing when they say claim.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
