Civil Parking Notice from Liberty Printers Car Parking Partnership

Hi I am new here, please don't bite!
I received a parking fine of £80 (£40 if paid in 2 weeks) for not buying a pay and display ticket at my university (it's £4.40 per day which is extortionate for students in my book). Anyway normally I just get warning notices from the uni but today I actually got a fine through from this CPP company (Car Parking Partnership).
I have looked through several forums and online and there is two common counter measures for this, and I want to know which one I should do, I'm not paying it nonetheless.
The two common responses are to write a letter directly to the company stating that their fine is not legally enforcable and that I refuse to pay it and that no further contact with me should be made,
OR
to just ignore all correspondences from them completely and hope I don't receive a court notice.
What would you recommend? Anyone with experience with this company would be greatly appreciated too! Thanks for your time!

firstly, no idea who told you its a fine, a private company cannot fine you , these are INVOICES , not fines !
secondly, all you need to know is in the sticky threads, so start by reading the NEWBIES sticky thread
as for appeals, you can see examples of popla appeal successes in that sticky thread, as there have been thousands of them since oct 2012 to the present date
it also depends on if this was in england or wales, or not too , as the advice differs0 -
As Liberty Printers are members of the BPA, I would appeal this to them, then appeal to POPLA when they reject the appeal and get it properly killed off.
Read the NEWBIES sticky post for more details.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
Hi thanks for responding, I did read the newbies sticky first before posting, but theres so much technical jargon and different options I was really confused by it. It seems that now just ignoring it isn't enough, and I should wait for a NTK and appeal from there? If that is correct then that is what I will do, using the template shown on the sticky thread.
Any other advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks again for your help0 -

is the right answer. Read up on the appeals prov#cess and use the template in the NEBIES thread as the basis for your initial appeal to the PPC. Make sure you don't reveal who was driving, so don't use I, use, the driver instead.I married my cousin. I'm intrigued to know what happened with this... Did you receive an NTK through the post?0

What you are saying is that you consistently park in a pay and display car park without paying.
IMO you should pay up, you have no defence and any attempt at an appeal will fail. The university has obviously invited this company in to place this on your car.
If you can't afford to pay the £4.40 per day (which is actually pretty good value compared to most places) then you should use public transport.0
