I posted a new thread, as it advises not to use the existing thread for questions.
In the sticky it says to keep all of the letters from the parking company. What is the reason for this? (forgive my ignorance)

The PPC can make a claim for up to 6 years in England and up to 5 years in Scotland. Should a claim be made against you say three years from now and you hadn't kept the paperwork you would have difficulty remembering what happened and how to prove you were not in the wrong.
You do know that a PCN can and should be ignored in Scotland don't you?I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Yes, keeping the paperwork is simply a belt and braces measure in case the PPC do try it-on in the years following.
In reality, instances of this happening are like hen's teeth. The recent UKPC claims in Dundee are the only ones I can think of and UKPC still chickened-out at the last moment.
So if you have a Scottish ticket, just ignore and sit tight unless you get genuine court papers but don't hold your breath for them!0 -
I live in Scotland and had been ignoring them for years. I get a couple a week just now (someone keeps parking a car registered to me in a PC world car park) but rather than keep them i just shredded them and binned them all. OopsAll your base are belong to us.0
