Does it really matter? Do you think a future buyer will know precisely where it should be and measure it?

Yes - I want it in the same position as the original

Go to your local Ford dealer, or carry a tape measure in your car for next time you see a parked one.

    Looks like I'll have to.
  • Use this and scale it up with a grid in PhotoShop or GIMP.

Make sure it's level too, as being wonky will look more obvious than an inch out of place.

Absolutely right. I'm the sort of buyer who would notice a missing badge or one in the wrong place and I would ask why (unless it's the sort of car routinely de-badged by the manufacturer). Let's face it, you tend to look at more than one car and you should be picking up on these clues and asking why there are differences.

One thing though - please make sure you get it absolutely right in position; winds me right up when I see people's badges at jaunty angles or with letters spaced incorrectly because the repairing garage/owner couldn't be arsed to do their research as you are.
