Car park charges at work
I work on a private site which houses numerous different organisations. Each organisation has purchased a number of car park spaces from the landlord, each one coloured appropriately. Lately however people have been parking in the wrong spaces and even parking where there is no designated space. This is due to the number of spaces being a lot less than the number of staff. Anyway we have been notified that a private firm is being brought in to "manage" the car parks and that any vehicle parked incorrectly will be ticketed. The penalty is £100 or £60 if paid within 14 days. If the ticket remains unpaid after 28 days then the owner will receive a letter from the firm to their home and then the debt will be referred to a debt collection agency.
We currently have two questions - 1. Is this legal? and 2. Do we have to pay? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Y'all could try parking properly? Sounds like they've got fed up of you not being able to behave and had to do something about it. Blame those who have just parked where they like.
I would try this in the parking forum at the top of the board though as the rules have changed a lot on how to deal with these things.
If it is your employer though, I would suggest it is generally a good idea from a career point of view, not to give them the nark. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Get yourself into the Parking Tickets Forum and read the Newbies Sticky - That outlines the current legal situation for this in all parts of the UK and how to challenge and beat these predators wherever possible.
Have they announced which firm will be brought-in? That in itself is an important factor as some are much less likely to pursue meaningfully than others - Once you know, have a search for recent threads (last six months or so) to see how other people dealt with them. Older threads may not contain useful current info.0 -
Legal? Well that's a complicated position. See the sub-board.
Not sure though why you are angry you are no longer going to be able to park in other peoples spaces..?0
