letter, grammar check needed

Hi, Can somebody check if this letter's grammar is ok? Thanks

I am writing in response to your letter dated 16th January 2015. I can confirm i have not received any letter from you in December 2014.

I have also made number of phone calls to your office after receiving your last letter but I was not able to speak to you as you were out or with clients.

I would request that since your last letter dated 16th January does not mention what you requested from me in earlier letters, that you send me the copies of those letters again.

Yours sincerely,

I was always taught never to start a letter "I am writing" as that is self evident.

No problems with that letter for me. A letter doesn't need to be perfect, and you convey exactly what you want to say, so no problems.

There are 1000 ways to write a letter, with varying degrees of nuance, style, and personal preference for set expressions, but in reality none of that matters. What matters is that you're understood.

It depends who the letter is to, perfection may give rise to perception & judgement, you may not agree but good grammar is important to many a recipient

    Personally I'd change it...
Dear XYZ, regarding your letter dated 16th January 2015, I can confirm that I have not received any letter from you in December 2014.

I have made number of phone calls to your office, after receiving your last letter, but I was not able to speak to you due to you being unavailable.

This isn't 'techie stuff' - Why do the mods allow posts like this along with all the "How do I X". This sub-forum should be renamed 'Technical Support' as no real tech discussion goes on here.

Maybe because there are no mods on these forums.

I'd agree that this isn't really the right place for this thread, but I think you could have found better things to do with your time than complain about it, especially as the OP's question had been answered already.

And you have to remember that the whole point of the forum revolves around saving money, so Techie questions and answers are likely to be in that sphere - if you want to discuss hardcore tech issues there are plenty of more appropriate forums where you can go to do that.

op - back to your question, which I am pleased you ask:-)

'Dear Sir[or Madam, if signature indicates this]

In response to your letter of 16 January 2015, received [date], I state unequivocally that no letter was received from you in December, 2014.

Unfortunately, since that letter of 16 January, not one of my[say how many] phone calls to your office has resulted in our direct communication. You were either out, or with clients.

Kindly re-send copies of your December 2014 correspondence and obtain a free Certificate of Posting. I will do the same when I reply, which will protect us both.

Apparently, 'missing' Christmas post was worse than ever last year. [a little softener, if you want]
