So, we used a claims company for a number of PPI claims.
The first one came back with about £4000 just before Christmas. They'd already sent us a letter to initiate the claim, but we passed that to the claims company to use.
A short time later, the PPI claim was paid directly to us as a result (I assume) of a claim we already had begun ourselves.
In the meantime, the claims company have written to us asking for more proof of ID for the claim we've already been paid out on.
As a precaution, we've held back a portion of what we've been paid in case the claims company ask for it. But we're at a point where we could use it (baby on the way) and in any case, do they even deserve it? Can they put a legitimate request in for their share of the claim when it was paid directly to us and their own attempts to get the company to pay have stalled over an ID issue?
On one hand they've done some groundwork, but on the other hand, their handling of the claim hasn't been completed. We've been paid out, it's finished.
Do they get anything or is it ours?

Morally no. However, you knew that before you employed them. They do little more than put a stamp on an envelope. Problem is that you entered into a contract with them to pay them to do that. So, in that respect, yes they deserve it.Can they put a legitimate request in for their share of the claim when it was paid directly to us and their own attempts to get the company to pay have stalled over an ID issue?
That is how it works. The vast majority of banks and firms will not pay the CMC. They pay the money to you and you pay the CMC.Do they get anything or is it ours?
Expect them to start legal action against you for non payment.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I thought they paid to the claims company first then they paid us.
That's been the basis of my query. It seems we need to pay then.
Even though as far as they're concerned, the claim hasn't been completed or even paid out.0 -

They will find out sooner or later. Later is quite common.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
